Die Publikation, der zweite von fünf Bänden, stellt Sean Scullys Gemälde der 1980er-Jahre vor. Ausgehend von Arbeiten, die dem Künstler am Anfang seiner Karriere zum Durchbruch verhalfen, zeichnet der Band die Entwicklung von Scullys Ausdrucksformen sowie seinen wachsenden Erfolg in Amerika und weltweit nach.Scully, gebürtiger Ire, erfuhr seine Ausbildung in England und siedelte 1975 in die Vereinigten Staaten über. Anfang der 1980er-Jahre in New York fest etabliert, schuf er bereits Arbeiten, die sein Œuvre der nächsten Jahre nachhaltig beeinflussen sollten. Sowohl in kleinen (Solomon) als auch großformatigen Gemälden (Heart of Darkness) entwickelte Scully einen kraftvollen Stil von satt aufgetragenen Streifen und Formen, bei dem er die kräftigen Leinwände und Farben meisterhaft beherrschte. Indem er Andeutungen und Bezüge zu Orten, Emotionen, Literatur und anderen Kunstformen in seine Arbeiten integrierte, erfand er neue Darstellungsformen für ein vernachlässigtes Genre und belebte so die Abstrakte Malerei wieder. Am Ende des Jahrzehnts galt er als einer der wichtigsten Künstler der zweiten Jahrhunderthälfte.
SEAN SCULLY (*1945, Dublin) ist einer der bekanntesten Künstler seiner Generation. Neben zahlreichen Ausstellungen weltweit wurde er mit wichtigen Preisen wie dem Guggenheim Fellowship und Harckness Fellowship geehrt.

Good Watch for use in water.

Here's the deal. It's an excellent plastic watch. If you don't abuse it, it should last years. The advantage of metal bodies and crystal faces, is that they're lot more resistant to scratches compared to plastic, BUT they weigh a lot more than plastic watches. I love the size of this watch while at the same time, it surprisingly light on the wrist. Therefore it doesn't move all around like a heavy steel watch. I hardly know Im wearing this plastic watch. Also, I went snorkling offshore for a week with this watch, no leaks, no problems. It will stand up to water fine. So, if you don't abuse it, its a pleasure to wear, lightweight, waterproof, doesnt slip around, looks good. I imagine the battery should last 3-5 yrs like my last plastic quartz watch. For the price, its a very good watch.

TIMEX ROCKS !

This is my first TIMEX, and it supersedes my expectations ! The silicone wrist band is excellent, comfortable beyond imagination and looks good, the timepiece face is elegant yet simple/ clean look...Not cluttered.
I Highly recommend it to anyone, I am now a TIMEX man !, throwing out my previous wristwatch...
