"We were sure that we would win, that we should score the first great triumph in a mighty world-movement."--Theodore Roosevelt, 1904

Americans like to think they have no imperial past. In fact, the United States became an imperial nation within five short years a century ago (1898-1903), exploding onto the international scene with the conquest of Cuba, Puerto Rico, the Philippines, Hawaii, Guam, Samoa, and (indirectly) Panama. How did the nation become a player in world politics so suddenly-and what inspired the move toward imperialism in the first place?

The renowned diplomat and writer Warren Zimmermann seeks answers in the lives and relationships of five remarkable figures: the hyper-energetic Theodore Roosevelt, the ascetic naval strategist Alfred T. Mahan, the bigoted and wily Henry Cabot Lodge, the self-doubting moderate Secretary of State John Hay, and the hard-edged corporate lawyer turned colonial administrator Elihu Root. Faced with difficult choices, these extraordinary men, all close friends, instituted new political and diplomatic policies with intermittent audacity, arrogance, generosity, paternalism, and vision.

Zimmermann's discerning account of these five men also examines the ways they exploited the readiness of the American people to support a surge of expansion overseas. He makes it clear why no discussion of America's international responsibilities today can be complete without understanding how the United States claimed its global powers a century ago.

Your pup will have so much fun with this treat puzzle
Color: Green
My Westie, Maisie just turned four. I bought her this awesome treat puzzle for her. I was apprehensive whether she would play with it or not. She absolutely loved it. Took about five seconds for her to get over there and figure it out. It’s very well made and sturdy. The puzzle pieces move easily and so many combinations. She had so much fun looking for treats. It sits very flat on the floor and stays in place easily. Each section has a room for a couple treats depending on the size. They were very safe conscious when they know this product. No small pieces, but the animal are even a sad child to choke on him.She had so much fun. I highly recommend this product. You won’t go wrong. Great price.

Fun treat/toy your dog will love!
Color: Green, Color: Green
I bought this puzzle toy as a birthday present for my dog. She loves it!!! It took her a minute to get the hang of it but now she’s a pro at getting the treats out. It’s durable and easy to fill. I have it for 3 months and there is no damage to it. She hasn’t chewed it but once in a while she will carry it around hinting she would like it filled. The price point is great.

Definitely recommend this product
Color: Green
Very pleased with this item - it is very similar to the Outward Hound brand but less expensive. I chose this product which doesn’t have easily removable parts - they would be a chocking hazard. Overall it seems durable, engaging and chew resistant - as long as your dog is supervised

Needs improvement
Color: Green
The cups are deep enough and the bone has to have the circle to rotate before the bone can move. I had a hard time figuring it out and so has Our dog . There are 4 black rubber parts included but no instruction on what to do with them. After seeing the toy move across the floor, I figured out these needed to go on the bottom 4 corners. Cute, but needs improvement.
