The Shruti Box is a hand-pumped reed instrument used to provide droning chords and notes in classical Indian music. The exterior is made of wood, with cloth bellows and reeds allowing the sound to be pumped through the chambers of the box. It is similar to the harmonium in its overall sound and uses.

The Shruti Boxes we carry have chromatic tuning according to the A=432 Hz standard. Compared to the 440 Hz tuning standard, the 432 Hz tuning standard is believed by many to be closer to the natural rhythms and proportions of nature, as outlined by Pythagoras.
