Although girls and women account for approximately 40 percent of all athletes in the United States, they receive only 4 percent of the total sport media coverage. SportsCenter, ESPN's flagship program, dedicates less than 2 percent of its airtime to women. Local news networks devote less than 5 percent of their programming to women's sports. Excluding Sports Illustrated's annual "Swimsuit Issue," women appear on just 4.9 percent of the magazine's covers.

Media is a powerful indication of the culture surrounding sport in the United States. Why are women underrepresented in sports media? Sports Illustrated journalist Andy Benoit infamously remarked that women's sports "are not worth watching." Although he later apologized, Benoit's comment points to more general lack of awareness. Consider, for example, the confusion surrounding Title IX, the U.S. Law that prohibits sex discrimination in any educational program that receives federal financial assistance. Is Title IX to blame when administrators drop men's athletic programs? Is it lack of interest or lack of opportunity that causes girls and women to participate in sport at lower rates than boys and men? In Women's Sports: What Everyone Needs to Know, Jaime Schultz tackles these questions, along with many others, to upend the misunderstandings that plague women's sports.

Using historical, contemporary, scholarly, and popular sources, Schultz traces the progress and pitfalls of women's involvement in sport. In the signature question-and-answer format of the What Everyone Needs to Know series, this short and accessible book clarifies misconceptions that dog women's athletics and offers much needed context and history to illuminate the struggles and inequalities sportswomen continue to face. By exploring issues such as gender, sexuality, sex segregation, the Olympic and Paralympic Games, media coverage, and the sport-health connection, Schultz shows why women's sports are not just worth watching, but worth playing, supporting, and fighting for.

Great valet tray!
Color: Brown
I needed something to help me keep my personal items organized, and saw this valet tray. I like how it looked and bought one. Then a bought a couple for my kids for Christmas presents, then a few more for around the house. We all like them because it feels good to be somewhat organized. I would definitely recommend them.

Color: Black
While this is in 2 pieces, it’s a great desk mat and the wireless charging is awesome!

Total Game Changer for Your Desk Space!
Color: Black, Color: Black
I decided to finally foray into the desk mat space, and my only regret is not doing this sooner. This particular mat is not only an instant upgrade, visually, for my desk, but also gives me a convenient place to tuck away those couple papers/cards I always need to have within reach. It goes without saying, my favorite part of this is the high quality wireless charging piece. Aside from eliminating an extra cord, it helps minimize the clutter and lets me charge my phone AND AirPods simultaneously. This is the first of many I will be purchasing, as it is the PERFECT gift for anyone with a desk.

Honestly, this is pretty nice!
Color: Black, Color: Black
At first I was a little disappointed in the design of this device because the mat and the charger are two separate pieces; but the magnet that is connecting them together is pretty strong, so I ended up not minding it. The magnet in the charger is pretty strong too, though, so the whole thing tends to lift up when you pick up your phone - this is my first MagSafe charger, so perhaps that is standard with these, I wouldn't know. As you can see in the picture, this isn't your standard mouse pad. It's leather on one side and felt on the other (you can pick which side you want to face up, which is a nice design feature, I suppose). It's smooth and wipes off easily but really collects fingerprints and hairs. It's also a good size. Not too big, not too small. I was a little worried because it's smaller than my older mousepad but I haven't suffered for it. I may even prefer this smaller size if I'm being honest. I'm not sure if I like the feeling of the leather side against my arm/wrist, though. The mouse has no problem reading it but it's just not very soft. I do notoriously dislike change though so maybe that's just a me problem LOL. All in all I'm happy with this and would suggest it!

Works great! The mat is a good size and the charger works well! So much more convenient than plugging in to charge.
